Hydro Cyclone

Introduction

Hydro cyclone is a device that classifies and separates mineral particles in a centrifugal force field with tens to hundreds of times the acceleration of gravity with water as the medium. It uses centrifugal force to accelerate the sedimentation of ore particles. It needs pressure feeding, so it consumes a lot of power, but it occupies a small area, is cheap, has a large processing capacity, and has high classification efficiency. It can obtain very fine overflow products, which are mostly used in the classification equipment in the second stage closed circuit grinding.

Working Principle

The hydrocyclone is a device that uses rotary flow for classification, and is also used for concentration, dehydration and sorting. Its structure is very simple, and it is mainly composed of a hollow cylinder and a cone. The diameter of the cylinder represents the cyclone device specifications. Its size varies widely, from 50mm to 1000mm, usually 125-500mm. An overflow pipe is inserted in the center of the cylinder, a feeding pipe is connected along the tangential direction, and a sand sink is left in the lower part of the cone. Under the action of pressure, the slurry is fed into the cyclone along the feeding pipe, and then rotates under the restriction of the cylindrical wall. The coarse particles are thrown to the wall of the vessel due to the large inertia centrifugal force, and gradually flow downwards and are discharged from the bottom as sand. The speed of the fine particles moving towards the wall is small, and is driven by the liquid flowing toward the center to flow out from the center overflow pipe, becoming an overflow.
